The risk of infection is prevented in Tallinn public transport
From Friday, September 11, Tallinna Linnatranspordi AS will implement additional security measures for the protection of bus drivers in public transport.
According to Deniss Boroditš, Chairman of the Board of TLT, in the conditions of an increasing number of coronavirus infections, it is important for the company to protect not only the users of public transport but also their employees from the risk of infection. “From tomorrow, the front doors of the buses will remain closed at the stops, and behind the driver’s cab, we will separate the safety area extending to the first row of seats, which will be inaccessible to passengers. This is a measure that justified itself in the spring outbreak of disease,” the chairman of the board explained, adding that to ensure the safety of passengers, buses will continue to be disinfected twice a day at Kadaka and Peterburi road depots and at Männiku, Hobujaama, Õismäe, and Balti station terminals, where also the contact surfaces of the passenger compartments are disinfected several times a day. All measures implemented by TLT AS have been approved by the Health Board.
Boroditš described the difference between anti-virus and conventional cleaning, which focuses on contact surfaces from handrails to seats and validators. Our disinfectant personnel received thorough training in the spring, and they use the most modern technologies, the right working methods, and the best tools.
“For our part, we are able to minimize the risk of infection in public transport, but we also expect passengers to behave responsibly,” stated Boroditš. According to him, hygiene requirements must be met, in case of symptoms of the disease, self-isolation must be maintained, but in order to achieve greater self-confidence, it makes sense to wear a mask in public transport.
During the spring crisis period, not a single infection caused by the use of public transport was detected in Tallinn, and no TLT bus driver became ill.
